Free Beachy Cross Stitch Patterns

Thursday July 24, 2008
I just spent a long weekend at the beach with my family. We had a great time. I love walking on the beach early in the morning and at sunset. The sounds of the surf and the smells (well, most of them) are intoxicating. I wouldn't want to deal with sand all the time, but it sure is a nice place to visit.

There are several free patterns at About.com Cross Stitch with an Ocean or nautical theme. Stitch them to commemorate your visit to the beach or to decorate your beach-themed powder room or guest room. Stitch the bookmark for someone who is going on a trip to the beach and gift it with a few books.

Question from the Forum - What are Your Stitching Pet Peeves?

Tuesday July 22, 2008
Miz V recently posted this question in the Forum:

"We have a lot of newbies... and I thought it would be fun to hear everyone's problem areas.

Mine is that I recently was at a friend's home and had spent a lot of time stitching a beautiful picture for her - and it was nowhere to be seen. I even excused myself to go use the restroom to see if maybe it was in a guest bedroom or hallway, but no sign of it. I was hurt as I spent many hours stitching it and if I do say so myself, it was really pretty.

I have also stitched a wedding sampler for YS and a cute picture for my sister in the past, neither of which are up on a wall. It is discouraging as I feel our hobby is an art and our work is beautiful and should be treasured. Maybe I expect too much.

Well, that's my rant - what is yours?
