Cross Stitch Tools - Helpful Cross Stitch Tools, Gadgets, and Organizers

Enhance Your Stitching Experience

By Connie G. Thomas, About.com

I use many of these tools each time I stitch. And, the ones I don't have yet are high on my wish list.

Floss Bobbin Winder

I have worn out one floss bobbin-winder and started on my second. If you use a bobbin-based floss storage system, this tool is a lifesaver.

Ceramic Needlework Magnets

I have the worst habit of sticking my needle in my shirt when I am between stitches. I have forgotten and lost needles many times. My family is not happy with me when that happens. Tapestry needles may be blunt, but they are still not fun to step on! I am trying my best to remember to stick my needle on my magnets instead. Maybe if I get some pretty ones like these I would be more inclined to do so.

Bead-Nabber

Pick up those pesky little seed beads quickly and easily with this little gadget.

Bead Nabber Replacement Pads

If your bead-nabber loses grip, don't discard the tool - purchase some replacement pads for it!

All-Purpose Magnifier

I use mine to help see my fabric and my patterns. It is especially handy when I am stitching a project with a large number of quarter stitches.

Thread Heaven Floss Conditioner

If you stitch with metallic or polyester floss, you need this little blue box of magic goo. Okay, it is actually not magic goo. I don't really care what it is, but it is pH balanced, won't harm your floss, and really tames troublesome floss types.

Spring Tension Hoop

I stopped using wooden and plastic hoops after some unfortunate incidents involving mystery stains. Then I tried this little metal and plastic hoop when I was stitching on linen and had to have some help. If I am going to use a hoop, the spring tension hoop is my first choice.

Ratchet Needlework Frame

I enjoy using the ratchet needlework frame, but some people really dislike them (see the comments section). I like the way the frame holds the fabric and I don't have to use tape, staples, or other contraptions to attach my fabric to the frame.

Plastic Canvas

Plastic canvas is so great. I like to use it for magnets, bookmarks, and other Cross Stitch projects.
